Sep 16th, 2008 Punchline's New CD "Just Say Yes" In Stores Today!Punchline's New CD "Just Say Yes" is in stores today!
Over the years the Steel City quartet has continued to build a loyal legion of fans who proudly call themselves "Punchkids." After successful tours with bands such as Fall Out Boy, Coheed and Cambria, Good Charlotte, Brand New and Sum 41, Punchline's brand of catchy, upbeat alt-pop has never sounded better than on Just Say Yes!
After making the tough decision to part ways with their previous label (Casa de Wentz aka Fueled By Ramen) in order to break out from the shadow of that label’s current stable of pop punk poster boys, Punchline got the boost they needed to forge ahead after winning a $25,000 grand prize from Heavy.com where their videos, over the four-month contest period, were streamed online almost 1.2 million times. In classic DIY fashion, they used the prize money to fund the recording of Just Say Yes and to launch their own label, Modern Short Stories.
Pittsburgh Punchkids should note the band’s hometown CD release show will be September 27 at Diesel Club Lounge. The band is also scheduled to play a series of free
in-store acoustic sessions this week, the first of which takes place tonight at Looney Tunes Record Store (31 Brookvale Ave) in West Bablyon, NY. Fans can also catch the band performing at FYE stores in Philadelphia on 9/17 (100 SOUTH BROAD STREET) and Pittsburgh on 9/18 (100 ROBINSON CENTER DR STE 1490) as well as at Hot Topic (Colonial Park Mall) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 9/19 (see full itin. below).
"Just Say Yes" was produced by Jamie Woolford (The Format, Gin Blossoms) and Sean O’Keefe (Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, Plain White T’s).

Sep 15th, 2008 POLYSICS TO RELEASE We ate the machine ON MYSPACE RECORDS SEPTEMBER 30; NORTH AMERICAN TOUR STARTS OCT 18 IN LOS ANGELES!MySpace Records will release the new wave styling of Japan’s Polysics on September 30 with the release of We ate the machine.
Influenced by the sounds of forward-thinking new wavers Devo, Polysics founding member Hiroyuki Hayashi, a.k.a. Hiro, knew he had to form his own band after listening to the avant sounds of the Akron, Ohio band. “I was shocked by it,” Hiro says of his first experience with Devo. “I thought it was so much more punk than just acting like a gang by greasing one’s hair. I was so impressed, and I thought, ‘I want to do new wave punk dressed in a jumpsuit like Devo!’”
Formed ten years ago, Polysics (made up of Hiro, vocals, guitar, programming; Kayo, synthesizer, vocals; Fumi, bass; Yano, drums) has released half a dozen full-length releases over the years. The band is now signed to MySpace Records, who released the definitive Polysics compilation POLYSICS OR DIE!!!! VISTA in October 2007 which went on to become their best-selling U.S. release.
August 26 saw the release of a vinyl double gatefold album; one side containing Karate House (an older album never released in the US) and the other side with We ate the machine.
MySpace Records will release We ate the machine on September 30. The record will also be available at all digital outlets as two separate albums except at iTunes where the two releases will be bundled together at one low price for two weeks, then available as separate discs afterwards.
Having most recently toured America in support of Hellogoodbye and Say Anything on the first-ever MySpace Music Tour, the band hopes to draw out new and old fans alike on their upcoming North America kicking off October 18 in Los Angeles at the famed Roxy.

Sep 2nd, 2008 PENNYWISE PREPARES THE RELEASE OF ITS NEXT SINGLE “DIE FOR YOU” TRACK HITS RADIO SEPTEMBER 22/23
BAND TO PERFORM AT SERIES OF FALL RADIO SHOWS INCLUDING Q101.1 CHICAGO'S BLOCK PARTY SUNDAY, SEPT 14 & KEDG PHOENIX'S EDGEFEST SATURDAY, SEPT 27
AND TO HEADLINE LISKFEST IN IRVINE, CALIF ON SATURDAY, OCT 11
September 2, 2008 –Hermosa Beach punk rock icons Pennywise, celebrating its 20th anniversary, raised its collective middle finger in the air to the music industry this spring and did the most punk rock/DIY thing imaginable; they gave away their latest record Reason To Believe for free. In fact, 400,000 downloads of Reason To Believe were recorded during a groundbreaking, two week promotion that gave Pennywise's MySpace friends the opportunity to download the whole album from MySpace.
Having released nine classic records in its 20-year history, Pennywise signed with Myspace Records this year and the promotion of Reason To Believe marked the first time a U.S. record label has provided an artist with the opportunity to offer a new album free of charge and the first time MySpace has offered a full album download with a worldwide push.
After rocking audiences during select dates on this summer's Vans Warped Tour, Pennywise is now touring overseas. The second radio single off the Cameron Webb produced Reason to Believe will be "Die For You" and to back it up Pennywise will be playing a series of radio shows in the U.S. later this month, including Chicago’s Q101.1 Block Party alongside Atreyu, and Bullet For My Valentine on September 14. See below for full list of radio dates.
Marking the first time Pennywise has ever serviced radio with a second single from the same record in its career, “Die For You” is the follow-up track to the record’s first single “The Western World” which was a Top 20 hit at Alternative Rock radio and top 10 at several leading stations including Sirius Satellite’s Faction (#1 most played), KROQ (Los Angeles) and 91X (San Diego). “The Western World” proved to be the band’s highest charting single ever. "Die For You" hits radio officially on September 22 and 23.
The band will also headline the first annual Liskfest (www.liskfest.com) in Irvine, California on Saturday, October 11 along with such bands as Gorilla Biscuits, Strung Out, The Vandals, Every Time I Die, Rival Schools, Bleeding Through, Set Your Goals, Revolution Mother and more.
With a presidential election hanging in the balance this fall, now more than ever the world needs the fiery, call-to-arms that is the Pennywise sound. Guitarist Fletcher Dragge says the band’s continuing passion and tension is what makes the band not only tick, but it’s how they’ve survived for 20 years.
“It’s something that we’re driven to do,” Dragge points out. “Our message and what we do has effected a lot of people’s lives and so we kind of feel like we have to do it. It’s bigger than the band.”
