Last year’s Volume 5 of the Take Action series was said to be “…its finest offering in years….as not only does it continue to support a more than worthy cause, but it puts forth the great results of a smart idea.” (punknews.org)
The compilation is released in conjunction with the 2007 Take Action! Tour which begins February 1st in Washington DC. Headlining the sixth annual Take Action! Tour this year is The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, performing with Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, A Static Lullaby and Kaddisfly. Tickets and more information can be found at www.takeactiontour.com.
Sub City Records is the charity component of Southern California independent label Hopeless Records. All Sub City projects benefit various charitable organizations that are working to make the world a better place to live. With 35 releases as well as tours and other projects since 1999, Sub City Records and their artists have raised over $800,000 for charity and will pass the 1 million dollar donation mark this year.
The brand Take Action! was formed by Hopeless & Sub City Records to take the charitable mission to the road through touring and outreach with the goal of creating a better world, one voice and one action at a time. By working with various non-profit organizations, Take Action strives to educate people about the positive difference that can be made by each of us in our community through activism and charitable work.
The benefiting charity for both the compilation CD and the Take Action! Tour is the Youth American Hotline, 1-877-YOUTHLINE (968-8454), a peer-to-peer counseling center that helps young adults in crisis and educates them on mental health issues. Founded by the Kristin Brooks Hope Center (KBHC), teens and young people who are looking for peer support dial 1-877-YOUTHLINE and are seamlessly connected to an available counselor. The network ensures that the people who need help will never get a busy signal and there will always be someone there waiting to talk to them. Reese Butler founded KBHC in 1998 after his wife Kristin’s suicide, using her life insurance to found an organization that presents the option to live for those in emotional pain. Since then, the KBHC has received a federal grant to expand the network and to date has answered over two million calls.

Jan 17th, 2007 AP ANNOUNCES “THE BANDS YOU NEED TO KNOW” TOUR PRESENTED BY ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINKCIRCA SURVIVE AND CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR TO CO-HEADLINE
Alternative Press Magazine and Rockstar Energy Drink are proud to present the first-ever “Bands You Need To Know” tour, kicking off March 16, 2007, in Houston, Texas.
The AP Tour, in conjunction with the magazine's annual “100 Bands You Need To Know” special, is designed to showcase bands on the brink of big success paired with those who are just starting out. Every year, AP highlights 100 up-and-comers they think people need to take notice of. When these bands start making waves, AP is proud to say that their readers heard it from them first.
Co-headlining the six-week tour are pop-rock darlings Cute Is What We Aim For and atmospheric prog-punks Circa Survive. Cute Is What We Aim For have steadily gained momentum since their debut release last summer, The Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch. The fresh-faced band—the members are barely out of high school--have found favor with a wide audience via their catchy sound and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, and the band recently crisscrossed the U.S. with Hellogoodbye. Circa Survive feature former members of underground hardcore staples Taken and This Day Forward, as well as former Saosin vocalist Anthony Green and have toured with everyone from My Chemical Romance to Dredg
Indie-rock upstarts As Tall As Lions from NYC and post-hardcore newcomers (and former AP&R unsigned band selection) Envy On The Coast will provide support on all dates. The unique blend of musical genres presented on the tour caters directly to AP's readers’ wide range of tastes and interests, providing them with a true “Must Know” experience.
The tour will play in 1,000- to 1,500-capacity venues that allow for a casual, one-of-a-kind environment, integrating music and a behind-the-scenes atmosphere for the ultimate fan experience before, during and after the show.

An early promotional sticker for AP read, “100% Manure-Free Magazine”—and that’s still true today. We’re the place where stars are born and where they return to get back to their roots. We’re the official seal of approval for artists seeking credibility.
