Jan 28th, 2008 THE FRANTIC ON TOUR; FRANTIC DRUMMER BRETT HARTWELL FILMING EPISODE OF “LA INK” THIS WEEKChicago’s latest brash upstarts are THE FRANTIC and if you think their high-energy juggernaut debut CD “Audio & Murder” (out now on Sinister Muse Records) is raucous, wait until you see them live. And now is your chance as they hit the road with One Small Step For Landmines. The tour starts Tuesday, February 12 in Charleston, Illinois at Friends & Co, and wraps up in Little Rock, AR on March 1.
Playing together since the age of 9, the band members (singer/guitarist Kyle Dee, guitarist Ian Farnesi, bassist Chris Farnesi, and drummer Brett Hartwell), now a fiercely tight unit, have gone on to share stages with the likes of Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Riverboat Gamblers, Pink Spiders, Chiodos, New Found Glory and Youth Brigade to name a few. One of their out-of-control performances caught the eye of famed multi-platinum producer Mudrock (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack, Riverboat Gamblers, Alice Cooper) who was so impressed with the then unsigned band that he flew them out to L.A. and produced their debut release.
“I first saw The Frantic on a small stage in Chicago,” Mudrock recalls. “I watched as the crowd became mesmerized by the pure punk energy rolling off the stage. Kyle was riveting in his performance, somewhere between Pete Shelley (Buzzcocks) and a 90lb Joe Cocker. Never had I seen a band so young play with such confidence and conviction. The songs were tight and every detail was razor sharp. I was blown away!”
This week, drummer Brett Hartwell will fly out to Los Angeles to tape an episode of TLC’s “LA INK” where he’ll get a brand spankin’ new tat at Kat Von D's High Voltage Tattoo Shop. Details on the air date will be forthcoming.
The Frantic are also expected to perform at SXSW in March (see dates below.)
What others are saying about The Frantic:
"Like hometown pop/punk heroes Alkaline Trio, The Frantic's music has found that fragile balance between pop and punk that can simultaneously cause a nose bloodying circle pit and mass sing-alongs."- Amazon.com
"Say hello to The Frantic, an honest-to-goodness high school rock band with crafty punk leanings so close to Rise Against’s early days it’s scary...."- Beep
"26 minutes of fun, snotty, sing-along pop-punk, more reminiscent of classic Screeching Weasel or NOFX than the sort of super-slick dross you might expect....these pretension-free songs turn on snappy choruses and boppy rhythms that will bring summer to your stereo long into winter."- Daily Herald (Chicago)
"There's not a lot of real punk music left anymore - not punk music with passion....but The Frantic have created a record that encompasses these qualities, while still feeling like a good old-fashioned party...These young Chicagoans combine the raw power of The Sex Pistols with the hooks of Set Your Goals.... Audio & Murder bursts into action with a shout of "We're the Frantic! Who the f**k are you?!" and Ramones-esque "hey hey hey"s over pounding drums and stuttering guitars...."
- Absolutepunk.net
"With a foundation cemented in straight up punk and a shell accented with catchy hooks and just enough mainstream flair, The Frantic are sure to be another Chicago-spawned phenomenon..."
- Popularunderground.com
"The Frantic is a relatively young pop-punk band that considers every track of their record a chance to make you jump up and dance down and scream your head off. Incorporating solid drumming, power-chord chugging, synthesized keyboard accompaniment and gritty sing-along lyricism, The Frantic is a fun way to get your daily dose of punk rock." -Synthesis
"It’s hard to listen to Audio & Murder without enjoying yourself. The high-energy guitar and drums sound almost anachronistic, hailing back to a Ramones era of jumping and yelling wildly in a fast-paced chaos...."- UR Chicago
