San Jose, CA "indie/twee pop punk” band Kitty Kat Fan Club will release their debut full-length 'Dreamy Little You' on May 31 via Asian Man Records.
The collective consists of Brianda Goyos León (Just Friends), Mike Huguenor (Hard Girls, Classics of Love and Jeff Rosenstock’s band), Mike Park (Asian Man Records, Skankin’ Pickle, Ogikubo Station etc.), Jon McMaster (Stickup Kid) and others.
A video for the song "Happy Now, Loving You" is premiering today on The Alternative: http://www.getalternative.com/video-premiere-kitty-kat-fan-club-happy-now-loving-you/
The band shares, "We got together and crammed into Mike Park’s little practice room. Filmed on an iPhone 10, the idea was to just play the song and treat it like a live show. We did around 8 takes and we picked the best one. We love it and hope you love it too!”
Kitty Kat Fan Club was started by Mike Park in his hometown of San Jose, CA. The idea was simply to put together a band of local friends who could get together a few times a month, write songs and have fun hanging out. The realization for Park was that he had not been in a band with members from the same town since his days in Skankin' Pickle (1989-1996).
This aspect of being in a band that would be able to hang out outside of music was sorely missed and thus Kitty Kat Fan Club was born. The band plays a simple indie/twee sound influenced by bands like Cub, Belle and Sebastian, The Pastels, and Alvvays, and features dual lead vocals/harmonies by Brianda and Catherine.
After releasing two 7 inches, the band is proud to unveil their debut full length "Dreamy Little You" out May 31st through Asian Man Records.
5% of sales of the Kitty Kat Fan Club record will go to various cat and dog rescue groups including Coppers Dream and 13th Street Cat Rescue. Asian Man Records also donates 5% of all profits annually to various social justice groups including No Mas Muertes, Southern Poverty Law Center, Legal Aid Justice Center.
